Plaster starts as stone, is ground into a soft powder, mixed with water, and becomes stone again.
Hardening, transformation, and return are the pillars of my explorations. Through a kitchen sink of materials I seek to bring awareness to the moments that go unnoticed yet leave us deeply impressed or scarred. My exploration of identity within diaspora through material transformation always returns the sculptures to the original circumstances they reference. The processes that make up their lifespan, the ones that have little testimony of existence, are the important ones.
The objects remember, and that’s what matters.
